The people of Raya have always stood as a pillar of honesty, bravery, transparency, and unwavering loyalty to Tigray’s identity and dignity. Across generations, they have made immense sacrifices to defend Tigray, and they have never hesitated to stand at the front lines when the integrity of Tigray is threatened. Let it be clear: no force, no leader—past or present—has ever ruled the people of Raya through coercion or disrespect, and history offers no precedent for such a violation. The people of Raya are proud Tigrayans, and they reserve the full democratic right to elect qualified leaders from among themselves and to reject any political entity—including the TPLF—that has consistently failed to respect or represent them. The TPLF’s long-standing legacy of appointing unqualified, corrupt individuals to lead Tigrayan cities without community approval has devastated Tigray and marginalized regions like Raya. It is an insult to label the courageous people of Raya as “Amhara,” “PP,” or “Demeke Zewdu” sympathizers simply because they speak the truth and demand accountability. Raya has suffered repeated droughts and underdevelopment while sitting on fertile, resource-rich land—yet its youth were forced to flee to Arab countries due to TPLF-enabled land grabbing and exploitation. Now, with Dr. Debretsion’s reckless and false narrative that the people of Raya are “desperately waiting” for the return of the TPLF, it is evident that he has declared political war on the very people he should serve. The people of Raya will never be slaves to any failed and undemocratic system, and they will not be silenced or subdued. We call on the people of Tigray—every corner, every family—to stand with the people of Raya in the fight for justice, self-determination, democratic governance, and a future rooted in freedom, dignity, and truth. Tigray deserves transparent leadership, fair elections, and a system that truly reflects the will of its people—not recycled tyranny behind closed-door “Guba’es.” The era of silence and subjugation is over—permanently.
